Pendragon is in ‘advanced discussions’ with Chinese EV manufacturer BYD, to be its UK launch partner.
The move is part of a strategy to expand the new car business in the UK.
“We are excited to be in advanced discussions with electric vehicle manufacturer BYD to be their lead UK launch partner as they enter the market later this year,” it said yesterday revealing strong first half profits.
BYD has its European HQ based in the Netherlands. Last month it announced that it was set to move into key European markets.
The company has three pure EV passenger vehicles: the E-segment BYD Han, the BYD Tang, a zero-emission 7-seater family SUV and the “European styled” BYD Atto3, an electric C-segment SUV.
BYD Han, BYD Tang and BYD Atto 3 will be exhibited at this year’s Paris Motor Show in October. The group launched in Norway last year.
Michael Shu, general manager and Managing Director, BYD Europe and International Cooperation Division, said: “We are excited to bring the BYD brand, and our latest passenger car innovations equipped with world-leading technology to customers in Europe.
“We are looking forward to developing relationships with European dealer partners at this momentous time to bring customers innovative, sustainable solutions and localised comprehensive support, from sales to aftersales services.
“To be part of this prestigious international event for the automotive industry provides the perfect launchpad for us to showcase our eMobility solutions in Europe. It also underpins our commitment to sustainability in this sector, in line with our support for the Cool the Earth by 1℃ global initiative.”Pendragon in advanced
