HR Owen turned in a strong performance with pre-tax profits up 13.9% to £15.6m on turnover ahead 19.6% to £536.2m in the year to June 2022
The group saw sales of cars rise to 3,136 compared to 2,771 the prior year. Headcount rose from 409 to 460.
The group described the past year as challenging but said it had delivered “exceptional” results.
The company has diversified from its core business representng Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Czinger, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Radford, Rimac and Rolls-Royce.
It now has a specialist used car business, standalone bodyshop. During the year it took an additional 35% stake in HR Owen Insurance Services, giving it 95% majority holding.
Post balance sheet it acquired Joe Macari Servicing in Wandsworth London for £750,000 cash up front and a deferred sum of £2.25m. It said the deal enabled it to increase its footfall in the Greater London area and cement its relationship with carmakers.
The freehold site in Hatfield bought in December 2020 is nearing completion and is expected to be up and running in the first quarter of 2023.
The site will have capacity for five vehicle showrooms, two large aftersales facilities, a multi-storey car park and corporate headquarters.
Other capital expenditure during the year included the refurbishment of the Ferrari sales showroom in South Kensington and the Lamborghini business in Manchester.
